Veteran Services at FLCC
Finger Lakes Community College recognizes the sacrifices of those who serve in the United States Armed Forces. We are grateful for the service student veterans provide to our country, and we are committed to making the transition from the military to the classroom a successful one.
Military Friendly Campus
FLCC has received the Military Friendly School designation from VIQTORY every year since 2014.
VIQTORY uses public data and surveys to establish its scores. The assessment measures a school's ability to meet certain thresholds for retention, graduation, job placement, repayment, persistence, and loan default rates — with an emphasis on positive outcomes for student veterans.
The Military Friendly designation recognizes the work FLCC does to support military families and student veterans.
We provide veteran support services within three areas:
- Securing as much college credit as possible for military services and training.
- Delivering maximum benefits to student veterans and their dependents.
- Establishing a supportive community for veterans.
College Credit for Military Service
Veterans can save tuition dollars and classroom time! Your service in the military may have earned you college credit. Finger Lakes Community College awards military students credit toward a degree based on training, coursework, and occupational specialty.
In-State Tuition
If you are a veteran that recently relocated to New York State but are unable to get a Certificate of Residence, you may still qualify for in-state tuition.
Contact Jon VanBlargan by email at jon.vanblargan@flcc.edu for more information.
Veteran Benefits
If you are a veteran — or a survivor or dependent of a veteran — you may be eligible for educational benefits. We can help you apply for these benefits, and connect you with student job placement, tutor support, and disabled veterans services.

Supportive Veteran Community
Connect with other veterans who have been successful in leveraging their military service to further their education. Finger Lakes Community College partners with the Canandaigua VA Medical Center to give veterans access to resources that can help ease the transition from military to civilian life.
The Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 requires educational institutions to make certain disclosures to students using federal military and/or VA educational benefits. To view and print a copy of an estimated personalized cost of attendance, you can visit the SUNY Net Price Cost Calculator and select Finger Lakes from the dropdown. Additional financial information can be found at the NCES College Navigator site.
The SUNY Financial Aid Plan (FAP) will provide a more in-depth analysis and accurate picture of student costs once the student has filed their FAFSA, completed a SUNY application, and has been accepted by a campus.
